Hi yes John Eales is the guru with rover engines and his son Richard followed in his footsteps. If it is one of John's engines he has camshafts made to his own profile.
Excellent people to deal with and his knowledge is unbeatable. I like the gt40 is it a KVA .

Hi glad you are getting there. I am assuming your engine is going in a Westfield, alloy sumps are nice but I am always critical of ground clearance and metal sumps will take a little knock alloy sumps normally crack. My 4.6 engine same as your block a late LCF came new from John Eales serpentine set...

Hi I see you have a lcf block, the pick up pipe on a serpentine timing chest bolts to the bottom of the chest and the pick up pipe bracket goes on to a main cap the one in your photo with a tapped hole in the middle. It attaches to the main as a stud screws in the cap then a spacer approx 1" th...

Engine identification

Hi Paul Red block that is champion, standard head casting numbers, if they have not had any work done on the heads Darkspeed is right the heads are the downside of these, a Rover v8 with your cam etc I would say 200-220 tops. You would see a big difference in going for a pair of stag3 heads they rea...

Engine identification

Hi Paul, Yes these blocks are very good especially the red blocks. Some people tend to get them top hat lined but this is really not necessary, you would be very unlucky to suffer any issues with this block. John Eales does not top hat line these as a matter of choice. I have a John Eales LCF block ...

Engine identification

Hi Paul your LCF block is one of the last to leave the factory they were not normally stamped in the usual place on the block but came with an identifying plate as the factory had a lot of trouble with the 4.0/4.6 Ltr blocks these tended to be factory replacement s in a lot of vehicles. They were gr...
