Re: Poorly running rover V8 3,5 with SU HIF

Thanks for your reply Chris. I also thought about an air leak and replaced the large vally gasket as it was a bit deformed due to a back fire. Also replaced the airfilters as these were also damaged during the back fire. I recently removed the carb from the inlet manifold to check the float level an...

Poorly running rover V8 3,5 with SU HIF

I have a problem with my Rover V8 from an SD1. The engine has been overhauled (new bearings, valves, oil pump, camshaft, lifters, piston rings and valve guides). It is equiped with 2x HIF. The problem is, it does not pull well and is misfiring now and then. Swapped the ignition (amplifier, coil) and...

There is s bolt with a circular rubber fitted into this hole. The rubber is on the outside into a concentric hole in the chassis transmission mounting bracket. Its there to limit turning of the engine due to torque

Sammy, It looks like a thorough rebuild. I would advise you to get the later type valve guides fitted with proper seals. Also don't forget to order a shim set for setting the preload. Myself i would replace not the conrod bolts as these don't "see" much load but these are not that expensive so if it...

these umbrella type seals move up and down with the valves and i don't believe these give the same sealing as the seals do which are fitted to the valve guides and do not move up and down.

Hello Stina, Nice job!! The smoke could be caused by the fact that there are no real valve stem seals on Sd1 heads. I recently rebuild my Sdi engine and replaced the valve guides with later one which have decent seals On the picture, you find on the lh side the Sd1 valve guides and on the rh side th...

i have seen worn rocker arms and shafts and would not want these on my V8. I have read the experiences that it will influence oil pressure in a negative way but i am curious to know what the reason is as the rocker arms are always pushed upward by the valves and/or push rods so in theory there would...

on the pictures underneath you can see how i removed the camshaft bearings. Got some extractor tools machined http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/petervdvelde/DSCF3682.jpg And pulled the bearings out with a piece of thread and a steel bar http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd310/petervdvelde/DS...
