As previously stated, I cannot use a GEMS front cover because it isn't compatible with the SD1 sump. This engine is going into an SD1, so a Range Rover sump is a no-no. After searching some more on eBay I found an outfit called FastRoadCar that sell mostly Weber stuff, but also universal-fit ball-end linkage rods with threaded rod that can just be cut to size. Sorted.

Well, I guess that would be one way, but they're quite expensive and I'd rather not start chopping them up. Maybe I'll phone Burlens and ask if they do shorter ones. I just thought that there might be another supplier.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer or supplier of the rod linkages with sockets at either end that fit the ball connectors on HIF6's?

Burlen Fuel systems do not appear to do the short ones needed for the linkages on a Boxer quad SU set-up.

Thanks for the information - I have no idea of the engine's history, so can only guess at the mileage, but I imagine it's fairly high. The results seem reasonably encouraging that I'm not facing a rebuild just yet.
