Can anyone tell me if you can bore a 3.5 motor to take 3.9 pistons with out having to put in new liners

HI, I have two rover V8's . 1 is stamped on the block 9.25:1 cr with a No. 45117919D. the only info I have says that this number should relate to 10.5:1 cr The other has a number on a plate of 127885G on the block I have no info on this 1 at all. if anyone can help that would be great.
