I would go for the five speed mate you will get much better economy if your bothered about that, i am past caring about mpg now but i used a 3.5 sd1 engine and 5 speed box when i first did mine and it was spot on with the standard gte axle.

my engine is a standard 3.9 block with arp studs only and is now 7 years old and i have never had any problems with it ,it also revs to 7300 rpm all the time.

Sounds like one is a cheater plate and the other is a powershot plate the cheater plate will flow more gas more than 200hp.

Sounds exactly the problem i had with mine ,like i mentioned previously the only thing that sorted the problem was to scrap the edelbrock and replace it with a holley 600dp hope you have better luck.

I used to use an edelbrock 500 a while back now and although it is an exellent carb for road use it could not cope with demands for racing it would lean out badly no matter what jetting it had , i changed to a holley 600 and problem solved.

Have you considered using a jag irs lsd ,very cheap to buy ,i have been using one for 9 years and not had any problems whatsoever ,even doing 1.4 60ft times, you will also have better road holding with it been independent suspension.

real steel have been in the process of making these heads for at least 4 or 5 years ,and they dont seem to be any further on ,also after speaking to them they are not really going to be a vast improvement to what is already available.
