3.9 lpg disco with mallory ignition problems

I am enquiring for a mate of mine. He recently bought a used disco and all was fine until two weeks ago. First the engine turned over but would not start but go back two hours later and it fires. Then the problem occurs more frequently and then misfires a great deal but eventually settles down. Now ...

r380/lt77/lt95/lt85 gearboxe splines

I have too many projects going at the same time, some of them are not even my own so would be grateful for a spot of assistance. If I have this correct r380 & lt77 splines are the same and lt95 & lt85 are the same splines but not as the r380/lt77. If you have a rover v8 that was mated to a l...

I know someone who can do the machining for the bell housing and someone who can tig weld but the splines could be a problem.
I do not mind taking a reasonable chance on success but would hate to make a complete hash with x amount of pounds up the swanny.

mt82 gearbox conversion

I would appreciate confirmation that this is not a good idea. Cut & shut with the bellhousing to mate with a rover V8. Hoping that other people
know of really good reasons not to try -

header tank query

I almost know the answer is yes but to double check should the header/expansion tank cap on my rr 3.9 make an airtight seal. If I squeeze one of the cooling return pipes I can hear air escaping from the cap. Also, not certain but think the top radiator return hose is empty of water because it squeez...

Thanks very much for the advice. I am not familiar with the company, their catalogue is full of goodies ! Fan size seems to go upto 16", wonder if it's worth having the curved version. Do you know if the curved blades are more efficient like the new generation of prop airliners or it might be t...

electric fans

What's the best advice on installing an electric fan in a 3.9 rr classic. I am now on my third vicious coupling fan and wondered about giving an electric one a try. A trip to the breakers or is it a kenlowe purchase job ! Also I found this on this forum, is this where to start http://www.x-eng.co.uk...

Seems to be the answer then! I did not know if someone had a clever idea such as finding a scrap different model car that has a longer cable and swapping them around.
Looks like a christmas soldering project!

Cheers

lucas air flow meter cable

I have a range rover 3.9efi with a lucas air flow meter. After fiddling with a new air filter set up the cable to the meter is a bit short. Does anyone know where to get an extension cable (if such a thing exists) or is this a case of soldering in some new wires to make it a bit longer. Thanks very ...
