I agree Dave, I'll probably need another gauge soon. However, the definitive zero reading came from my mechanic's diagnostic pressure gauge. The engine's been in need of a rebuild for a while so I've decided to go for that. I'll post the findings on here.
Cheers,
Tim.

Impending sump investigation
Thank-you Chris, Simon and Dave - I'll have a chat with my mechanic friend about investigating the sump but not before we've checked the oil pressure light (probably best to check the pressure relief valve too I assume) - the light's never come on so I've not worried about it. I've got a lot to lear...

An update on my bleeding lifters (possibly)
I've revived this thread in the hope my symptoms may ring a bell with someone or my RV8 troubles may help someone else in future. After Denis (Devonman)'s mention of oil pressure I thought it best I get a digital gauge and new sender to get an idea of the actual pressure in the engine. I was miffed ...

My heater matrix returns to the water pump
Jono, my heater matrix is fed from the back of the inlet manifold and the return goes to the water pump (on the left of the picture)
I hope this helps in some way.
Cheers,
Tim.

Thank-you for your help
Thank-you Denis, Chris and John for your advice. Most appreciated. I've not had a chance to give the manifold a proper visual examination but I carried a length of hose around and managed to stop and listen while the noise was there but I didn't hear any differences between the exhaust ports. The no...

Could this be an indication?
Many thanks for your replies Ian and Chris, I'm very grateful. I've little mechanical knowledge so I'll have to get a professional to look into this so any help or advice is invaluable. I had a look at the area the noise appears to emanate from and saw this dirt around no.2 (I think -front driver's ...

Clacking noise - Please help
The RH bank of my 3.9 Rover V8 (ex-'95 Range Rover) has developed a clacking noise that initially appeared to exhibit no pattern but has now settled to a routine. No matter how warm the engine, after 5 - 10 mins of 4th/5th gear 50mph or more driving, a loud clacking noise (matching the revs) starts....

Newbie PCV valve help required please
I hope to get some advice before connecting up a PCV valve to my Rover V8 flame trap (which currently ventilates into the air filter) After a lengthy read on this site I think I need to attach a small inlet filter to the small tube on the back of the left rocker cover: https://lh3.googleusercontent....

Thanks for the input JJ and Kevin. I've got the car booked in to Power Engineering in Uxbridge but I'll give Real Steel a ring tomorrow to get their opinion. The car was an e-bay purchase so I only have the previous owner's word that the engine has a lightened flywheel and race cam. I know the Holle...

Recommend a good Tune-up garage / Rolling Road??
Hello, I'm new here. I did a search for help on this but found nothing so I'm sorry if this is dealt with elsewhere but.... My Capri has a 3.5 Rover V8 with a 600cfm Holley carb on it and I'd like to get it tuned. Can anyone recommend a good Rolling road near Heathrow airport? Thanks in advance. Che...
