Managed to locate a late model low mileage SD1 Vittess gearbox with flywheel etc.. Will this be ok for my track V8 with a 3.3 salisbury diff please. Think I'll google the Vitess and find the diff ratio like I should have done first   That combination should be fine, depending on wheel an...

Depends which particular box your on about whether it has a cast on bellhousing or not. There arent any off the shelf conversions for the simple reason that they don't hold up to the V8. Newer boxes need a DMF or the input bearing fail rapidly. You have to remember than vans have totally different ...

That linkage look easy to reproduce so working on that I'll try for an SD1 box if I can find one cheap enough.
Looking like 400 quid for a recon at the moment and I cant afford it yet.

they have trouble lasting with a diesel let alone a V8 ...
My experience with Diesel boxes is that they are very strong and the pre FWD Transit transmissions usually outlasted the bodywork.

Pete If you have a problem finding a 9m 90 then send me a pm and I will see what I can find down here for you. Have a local guy who seems to have an endless supply of them. Cheers Paul Thaks for that, I'll have a look what starter is on my V8 Land Rover, it may be different to the one on the engine...

Transit gearbox to RV8 - will it go ??

Just had a thought,
Will a Ford Transit RWD gearbox go on an RV8, or can you get an adaptor plate?
Reason is that the gearstick is in just te right place and they are robust and high geared for the diesel engines and also cheap and plentifull.

Cant be that easy can it??

I presume that is the one I want with the solenoid on top, I'll have a look round for one next week. Still t...

Which Starter for clearance..?

Problems with clearance putting Rover 3.5 into Tvr.
Had a look and find that the SD1 has the solenoid underneath whereas mine has the solenoid on the side of the starter which is fouling my chassis.
Is there an alternative starter with the solenoid on top of the starter please.

I would be saying a box with 5 or 6 gears, and a Non Overdrive final ratio, so 5th or 6th is 1:1, a CR box will allow you to use a more radical cam, with a shorter power band further up the range, hopefully producing MORE POWER :D :D :D :D :D You might find it difficult to find a box without an ove...

I like the wall mounted compressor 8-) I take it that's fixed on well- otherwise it would have vibrated the rawl bolts out by now   It's bolted to two large 'L' fuel tank brackets which are bolted through the wall with large metal plates on the outside to spread the weight. The compressor...

Quaife 6 speed sequential  So long as its reliable and you can find them easily enough- the more gears the better, else modern sports/super cars wouldn't have 7 & 8 speed boxes. Obviously not an H gate though, think you'd get lost after 2nd  Thing is, mine will have a nice flat torqu...
