Rover V8 Help for a newbie

Good morning all
I've acquired a 3.9 Rover V8 as a re-build project having sucessfully rebuilt a couple of Pintos in the past.
Having stripped the top end off I am frustrated by the lack of co-operation from the crankshaft pulley bolt. Soaking in WD40 hasn't had any effect and I wondered if anyone has any suggestions....

Use either
a) windy gun, my prefered method
b) or large breaker bar use a block of wood inside the crankcase to stop the crank turning, you may need a hand to restrain the block assembly
Std rh thread so anticlockwise, it will be tight!! 24mm socket iirc

I have a 12 volt (runs off car battery) impact driver bought from Maplin ages ago which moves such things with easy - without having to lock the crank. It delivers lots of torque for a split second. There are similar ones on Ebay.
However, with the sump off, jam a length of wood between crank and block and use a breaker bar.

I've got a long bit of angle iron drilled to allow it to be bolted to the rear of the crank. Then a 3/4 drive socket set with a long bar, and they soon come out.
I've also seen the flywheel wedged with a 1" piece of angle wedged between the ring gear and the block.

If the flywheel is still attached use an alan key through the bell housing bolt hole opposite the starter, lock it into the ring gear .. I use this method on just about every one I do and it has always worked for me.
If some nice fella has put half a gallon of loctite on the bolt thread .. you may need a little heat on the head of the bolt .. now you have an excuse to buy a gas axe!

if all else is un available a pair of mole grips attached to the ring gear will stop the engine rotating
