LT77 Speedo Tranducer - Drive Pinion Questions

Post by ramon alban »

Regarding the different drive pinions on the various LT77 Electronic Speedo Transducers.

I find Rimmers Web Pages broadly gives the following information for "1982 On" SD1 Cars.

Drive Pinion --- No of teeth --- axle ratio --- Car

Orange --------- 20 --------------- 3.08 ---------- 3500
Red -------------- 22 --------------- 3.45 ---------- 2300/2600
Black ------------ 23 --------------- 3.90 ---------- 2000/TD2400

I hope I interpreted their info correctly - anyway - I have the following questions!

1 Does anybody know if the Drive Pinions can be removed and interchanged?

2 If so - How are they removed?

3 Are they retained on a splined shaft?

The microfiche suggests not. Certainly the transducer is indivisible as a part.

It also suggests that the gear in the gearbox that drives the speedo transducer is different depending on the transducer type.....
