Modding a RV8 SU manifold for holley?

Post by Jono FD3 »

Hi guys.... like the title says, is it possible, or has anyone done it.... basicaly looking at chopping off the lump on top of the std manifold (where the twin SU's fit) and welding on an alloy conversion bracket to allow me to run a holly....

What are your thought gents??

Cheers
Jono

Roughly speaking, in reverse, that is how the SU manifold came about, a 2 barrel duel plane manifold was adapted to take the SUs. chop the top off, make a speacr up to adapt the 4barrel to the hole left and stick a devider in so one primary and secondary throttle plate is directed to each half of he manifold. some people just make it open plenum by reducling the hight of the devider when they have chopped off the top of the manifold and stick on open spacer/ adapter to the carb.
Have fun
Mike
Ps is this going in a road car or an off roader? just 4 barrels like to be horizontal when they operate (actually they arn't that keen on accelerating while they meter petrol either! )

well, it's going in neather to be honest with you.... the engine is going in to a pick up that I am using for drifting at my local race track :)
But the plan to chop the manifold has now been changed as I have just scored an Offenhauser manifold with Holley (390 I think it is) in working order for £100 :) WIN!!!
