I was just wondering how many of you guys have fun with insuring cars where you've dropped a V8 into them when they didn't have them at factory?
I will guess I'm probably one of the youngest members on here at 23 so I was expecting insurance to be a bomb on my Volvo 940 with the 3.5 RV8 conversion, but it's actually LOWERED my insurance!!!!
I guess with some of the older members your insurance doesn't cost much, so you don't worry about it, but I've found that if you do an engine and tranny change away from factory set up, your car is then classed by DVLA as "radically altered" and can get kit car insurance
Normal insurance for me on a 2.3 turbo Volvo 940 (with 3 points and 0NCD) = £700
Normal insurance for me on a 3.5 RV8 Volvo 940 (with 6 points and 1NCD but a £4k claim last year) = £5000
Kit car insurance for me on a 3.5 RV8 Volvo 940 (with 6 points and 1NCD but a £4k claim last year) = £350
Any of you guys had similar experiences??
