EDIS coils location

Post by DaveEFI »

I have an SD1 EFI fitted with EDIS - but only lashed up at the minute. Anywhere there seems to be easily room for the coils looks ugly. Any novel positions that would look better I haven't though of? I wondered about either side on the block below the exhaust manifolds?

Wouldnt that make lead routing awkward, unless the manifolds swept upwards ?

What about at the rear of the intake ? Or above each rocker cover at the rear . I'd think keeping all lead routing would be the best option ?

I'm not sure how much clearance there is between the engine and bulkhead on the SD1, but the Thor configuration is pretty efficient with the coils mounted vertically.

There is sort of room on the bulkhead either side of the engine - but I don't fancy trying to get fixings to it without stripping out the heater etc. Mounting to the engine would be a bit tricky.

A bit difficult to tell by the pic, but I think that would foul the heater hose on the SD1 layout.

I'm drifting towards fitting them on top of the alternator bracket. At least there they won't get in the way of anything else. I'd hate having to remove them to change a hose or whatever.

Dave,
Take a picture from the front so I can see the water pump and thermostat housing as I may have a proto mount that has the coils side by side across the front.
