Any point to using my fuel swirl pot with carbs?

Post by crayefish »

Firstly.... sorry for the huge number of posts I am creating... I am just curious! However that only applies to V8s.... just incase anyone asks.

I have aquired a very nice little fuel swirl pot amongst otherthings recently. I know they are normally for EFI as carbs have a fuel bowl, but it seems such a shame not to use it!

Would there be any advantages to using it or would it be completely pointless? I'll be running quad dell'ortos and will also be off roading (ie. quite a bit of tank slosh and angles up to 45 deg). Also I am planning on using a Carter rotary pump.

personally I think it would be pointless, your carbs have a float bowl which holds a reserve of fuel.

Yes

Mount it and plump some pipes in to it - all in a big loop from one outlet to another going nowhere.

Preferably in braided hose

Then when you open the bonnet point it out to people and say you fitted it and since then consumption has improved and more tractability.

Then see if anyone offers to buy it from you

No I don't think it would be necessary - you'd also end up running 2 fuel pumps - pne from tank to swirl and the next from swirl to carb

Loads more to go wrong and break (KISS I say)

Cheers to both of you,

Looks like there's no need for it then. Ahhh and its so shiney...

Might see if anyone wants it in the for sale section.
