When I built my chevy v8 I installed the o-ring type of seal down the valve stem,I know now that was incorrect,do you think this is causing the blue smoke out of my tailpipes? Having had the engine up to normal temperature I can not find any crankcase pressure whatsoever.
Until My finances allow me to buy some performance heads are there any seals that I can fit in the meantime better than these O-ring type?
The heads are 1969 vintage
Cheers Dave

Hello Dave..... stock rubber seal slid onto valve stems... & not in seal groove ..not doing much good @ all.... Here's a real old trick for cheap posi seals on old SBC heads you have.(if stock guide bosses still in heads)
Use GM TRUCK head seals... they are rubber posi seals that fit right over stock valve guide bosses.... they have a small wire band that grips guide boss and they stay put.... & there dirt cheap to by... prox 10 GBP set 16
