Dose size matter?

Hi folks me again with another question, i want to build my own exhaust system starting from 3 inch headers to reducers? to a y into a single straight through cherry bomb exit cherry bomb with a pipe to end up in front of the rear wheel, with the pipe ovaled slightly under the chassis to aviod the obvious. engine is a standard 350 v8 what pipe diamiters do you suggest to avoid any restriction while keeping things tucked up out of the way?

For a 3.5 a 2.5" OD single system would be a better match 2 or 2 1/8 for a dual system. On a 3.5 a 3" system will be tricky to get to silence properly and the flow will be reversing all the time which will kill any scavenging. If it is looks your after, make it 2.5" apart for the last 6" sticking out the back.
