LT 85 gearbox

Post by desertrover »

Hello,
I´m using the standard clutch for the above gearbox in my LR90 V8 4.6.
Des Hammil says, the standard 9,5" SD-1 type clutch, just can handle up to 250 footpounds. This equals to 340 NM of torque.
So the engine in my Ninety should produce more than this 340 NM.
Let´s say it has 360 NM.
Will the difference of 20 NM be lost in transmission?
Now I`m upgrading my engine with a piper 270, convert the Mallory to unilite with Hyfire and promaster coil etc and selfported heads ( say Stage I )
I´m hoping to arrive at around 400 NM and 250 horses.

So if it´s like written above, all my efforts are for nothing, because my clutch limmit´s the transmitted power to 340 NM ( if the Landy clutch is the same as the SD1 ).
What to do?
The link to ap I´ve study, but I think the clutches listes/ used in the Range Rovers won´t fit my gearbox, as the LT 85 only was used in the Landy but not in the RR.
Help please

landy clutch is an inch bigger so it isn't the same as an SD1 clutch.
