con-rod bolts

can the con-rod bolts from the 4.0/4.6 be reused, or must they be replaced....
different people have been telling me different things.

It is my understanding that the only bolts used on the Rover V8 4.0 and 4.6 that MUST NOT be used more than once are the factory standard stretch (Torque to yield) bolts used for head retention.

All other bolts are high tensile, ie grade 8 or higher, and as such may be used more than once without detriment. Of course, if the bolt has been damaged in some way, then replacement would be advised.

If you're giving it some big licks, the arp rod bolts are a good investement, but just for standard the old ones can be re-used
