3.5i/3.9i Cast Manifolds

Was thinking of using two of the right hand cast manifolds (HRC1583) on my P6, as i don't have room for fitting the left hand manifold.
Anybody used this configuration? Should be better than the standard 4-1, as i'm after torque rather than top end power.
Anybody any thoughts?

Presumably you mean two 'starter motor side' manifolds? If you mean two 'non-starter motor' side manifolds, I think it will foul on the starter.

Not sure what it would do to power, and of course you'd have to make up the downpipes.

The two manifolds i aim to use are the shorter of the normal pair. The one where they exit straight down rather than swept back.
I wouldn't have thought i would have clearance issues with the starter though.
I appreciate having to fabricate downpipes, but i was considering using the Range Rover items modified slightly.

I take it your on about 4x4 manifolds 4 into 2 into 1? you shouldn't have any problems although they aren't the greatest power wise.

Correct.

I know tubular manifolds would be better for power, but having had a Range Rover and TVR with tubular manifolds, i would prefer to have a little less under bonnet noise.
I'm sure the Rangy 4-2-1 should be better than the standard P6 4-1 log.

They should fit fine then - as you're using the starter-side one on both sides.
