Post by nokia_aid »

iv got some white smoke, could be steam coming out of my one exhaust, its only when i first of all start up the car and then once the car has been running for a bit it goes away, then if i leave the car for a while and start it again it will smoke again,
i did reuse my composite gasket, could the water be trickleing into one of the cylinders or something

It would be fair to get this alot this time of year what with the cold weather etc.

Head gasket style problems would also prooduce similar effects though so maybe a good idea to carry out a block/sniffer test to hopefully rule this out.

If your valley gasket were leaking then you more than liley just get an airleak and its associated symptoms.

Is it an lpg equipped engine?

Sounds to me like it's just 'cold smoke'

I get great clouds from my RRC on start at the moment and then even more when it switches to LPG. It all goes away after a few minutes when it's warmed up!!

I would say its just because of the cold too but that would be odd to only happen on one exhaust.

Could be the way the exhaust is set up or if theres a crossover pipe in the system, just keep checking the water level in the rad and a beady eye on the temp gage if ur going any distance !! john

When you say you reused your composite gasket,do you mean a head gasket?

When you said

"iv got some white smoke, could be steam coming out of my one exhaust,"

Do you mean steam from your only exhaust or 1 steamy & 1 OK

Are you loosing any coolant? Get a sniffer test done on your coolant, that will tell you if there is a head gasket problem. Its probably nothing if you arent loosing coolant.
