Phoned our sponsors tonight (V8D) but couldnt get an answer. Fair enough i thought - it was after 6pm.
Then phoned Dave Ellis. I got an answer but to be honest i wished i hadnt - what an ignorant bast*ard! My query may not have been worth thousands of pounds to him, but manners cost nothing.
Every question i asked was answered with abrupt one-word answers followed by awkward pauses. To top it off, he just hung up on me.
All i can say is he mustnt need our business lads coz he's just lost out on £325 of business.
I'll be phoning Shaun in the morning....

Thats a shame!
I've only ever dealt with Shaun, and he's been brilliant.

they didnt want to help the forum members out when i contacted the rv8 specialists,
thus why i don't deal with them,
V8D and V8Tuner are the main ones i use now, and they support the members from here too.

Hi

I rang Dave Ellis a few years ago, and asked about the price of some bits to fit a remote oil filter, housing, pipe, fittings, take off plate, etc, when I asked for a price he couldn't be bothered to work it out, he just wanted my card details. He got rude when I explained I wouldn't order the stuff without a price.
I wouldn't use them, manners cost nothing, bad manners cost business.

I've been up to see Dave and found him to be ok, we talked rover v8's for a while and although I wasn't spending a fortune with him he did at least make me a cup of tea etc! I think the problem is that when he started out all the new TVR's had RV8's and the new owners had plenty to spend on their cars if they wanted to. A different bunch of people can afford these cars now and perhaps a little more customer service might be appropriate if he wants their business but you have to realise time really is money for these guys and if they don't sense a sale the call will get hurried along for sure!

I know what you're saying there Marcus, as someone who runs a small business thats true; you find a way to spend as little time as poss dealing with no-chancers. But imho there's no excuse for rudeness, and it does sould like the guys had £s to spend. The other thing is, it doesn't matter how much someone spends initially, within reason, (at least this is true of some biz's), if they have a good experience they're going to come back, with more squids to part with.

Not only that,
if they get a good service, then word of mouth gets around and that can boost sales too,

It is a difficult one, my dad used to get fed up with people coming round spending hours gassing - wasting his valuable time.

Here's what he wrote on his shed clock to give customers a hint:

I quite agree, I work for myself and a lot of people waste your time and time is money, but if I said to a customer just give me a blank cheque or card details and I'm not going to tell you how much i'm charging how much longer would I be in business?

yeah i can fully appreciate that time costs money. thing is, i was about to give this twat £325, and because of his impatience someone else will get instead. so in this case it wasnt time that cost him money - it was his own bad manners.....
