Is it possible to convert a 5.0 lump with a serp front cover to the early style P6 cover?
Would you be able to run a dizzy on this engine or would some form of EDIS be a better idea?

will you have a serp front end going begging then
i can't see no reason why you cant run an early front end, you will need a spacer for the bottom pulley to go over the crank nose due to its longer length,
theres me trying to go to a serp front and you trying to go to an early one
do you want the sd1 style front like mine then???

There isnt room in an MGB for a serp front end.
The anti roll bar gets in the way.
Whats a serp front end worth then?

Not sure mate, I think so.
Its not my engine. I'm just thinking seriously about buying it.
Theres someone on here with a 4.6 MGB who I would dearly love to spank on the drag strip.
(not that it'll ever happy of course!

Tony I have a complete serp front end i got with the 4.6 i just bought including water pump. I wont be using it as I also have an MGB - going to be running a Vitesse front cover with either my Group A sump or the Dry Sump kit I just got hold of (if it'll fit hehe)
Also got the sump and pick up pipe if you are interested? I had a quick look and everything looks in good nick. Its in the loft now and I'm away for the weekend - if ya interested drop me a PM and I'll try to sort some pics out next week

Na that's it M8 just wasn't sure if you remembered

Oh you will need to do something with the cam as well to keep it held in the right place if its the 4.6 front. Don't know about the inter.

if running a dizzy with the old style cover you will need to change the cam i think to a pre serp engine, also will need to fit a dizzy drive gear to the front of the cam,
have the serp front ends got castings to fit a dizzy?
or is that the interim ones only?

interim is the only one that can take a dizzy although now you have to work on the VEMS anyway time to go full ignition as well?

good point,
can the old style block be drilled to take the cam retainer?
if so will my cam need replacing to a serp style one???
also what would i need doing to use the cam sensor and go fully sequen?
