Reassembling plenum/manifold

Before i take everything apart to clean and fit the new injectors, I have noticed there is some black sealant between the trumpet base and manfold - is this necessary?

Yes.. If you dont fit this "silicon" sealer then you might get some air leak??

i was only asking because my old hotwire didn't have it.
