Is this a problem you've come across while building the car, or one that's appeared after it's been on the road a while? If it's something the car's just started doing, check the engine mounts. As they perish the engine will drop, and bits that never used to touch each other suddenly start rubbing.
It's not a bodge if no one finds out!

this is a new build, the problem is on the right hand manifold, the rear three tubes & the collector clear the steering but the front tube is directly where the steering shaft is

On my Focus with 5.0 (302) the right hand Mustang shorties fouled the steering at the collector.
Sooner than pay someone to build some or spend hours tacking some together myself, I cut the headers off just short of the flange and welded in small straight pieces.
Starting at the forward, no1, tube I put in 20mm extra, increasing to 35mm extra at the no 4 tube.
This pushed out the headers at an angle in the collector area.
Sounds like you could do the reverse of this if yours catch at the front tube.
