New Valve Guide fitting

Post by Sammy »

Hi,

I had new bullet valve guides fitted to my heads (RV8 3.5L) which will take proper oil stem seals.
However, they don't appear to have been fitted very deep into the head - the shoulder is sitting about 6mm out and when the seals are fitted there is only around 7mm travel before the collets hit the seal.

I'm guessing the engine shop just haven't pressed them in far enough, or is it that they need machining?

Cheers
Sammy

No machining required:

I think the drawing is wrong actually, and that the dimension 'A' should be to the seat of the valve spring recess (as that is a machined surface) rather than the cast surface that is show.
