As per the title, when using block huggers and a std Rover V8 starter, do you still need to put a heat shield between the starter and exhaust if the manifolds are wrapped?

I am committed to the block hugger route, so no suggestions of "RV8 manifolds" please.

I did have the idea of fitting a standard 4 pot starter motor cover but then realised the exhausts are too close to get it on. Has anyone made a heat shield? I just don't fancy paying the wedge for one if I can make a suitable replacement.

How about Thermotec or similar that you can fit using tie wraos ? I have that on my starter.

On my mates 302 we just wrapped the starter in some heat proof blanket with some stainless cable ties

Thanks all, I found some shield wrap and am going to try that to start with.
