SD1 rear axel diff options?

Post by chodjinn »

Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a full complete SD1 rear axel for a good price, it's from a 2.6 Manual, is it likely to have the same diff ratio as the V8?

And would it matter so much in my MGB?

RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

R32 Skyline V8 .... this one is gonna be a monster!

Wow thanks for that! Just read up on diff ratios, might be worth a punt to get the higher ratios and fit it into my shortened axel. £100 for a full SD1 axel seems pretty good to me!

There is also a 3.9:1 fitted to the 2000 manual. The auto has a 3.45:1.

The 2.85:1 EFI auto is comparatively rare and usually costs more.

Don`t forget that TR7 5speed axles have the same inner workings as the SD1.
