Hello all, would a jag M112 charger be a suitable sized charger for a low c/r 4.6?

havent you thought of just transplanting the super charger and everything else that is attached to it (ie engine and gearbox) it would make the capri go a treat! :D  :D
The 'box is loverly, especially in sport mode (engine is dead good aswell!!)
probably be quicker and cheeper in the long run.

Mike

PS. the super charger should be about right, maybe a little big, it is intended for about 390 to 410bhp on the Jag, you may need to alter the drive ratios to get it right, the Jag makes peek power at about 6500 to 6800, quite high compared to a rover.

Nope i'm not changing to a different type or engine for a looooooooooong time plus i want to challenge of getting one to work with the rover, just plonking the lot in from another car is no fun!

have you ever driven a supercharged XK jag? I assure you that engine /gearbox would be alot of fun in a car half a ton lighter!

Oh i totally believe you but i'm set up to use a rover now so i'll stay with that, if i were to change to another engine it would have to be an ls1 or 302 due to having much larger scope for improvement.

Should work.
A 112 on a 4.6 using 110% overdrive should deliver about 6.6 psi.
A 112 on a 4.6 using 120% overdrive should deliver about 7.6 psi.
Using a Gilmerdrive it will be a screamer.

Whats a gilmerdrive?

I basically intend to copy someone elses setup provided it will fit down the side of the cylinder head.

Thats a bit nice looking.
is it running?
Is a gilmer drive a toothed belt set up like you see on big rootes type blowers? I think they may whine allot?

Gav,

give me a shout if you want toothed belts and pulleys. We've been supplying them since the '70s for various aftermarket automotive applications to numerous to mention.

see www.transdev.co.uk

Cheers,

Ian

NEXT QUESTION!

What comp ratio would you guys reccomend? I'm guessing i should figure out the max pressure this charger will deliver on a 4.6 as if its only 5psi then a high c/r might be in order or if its 15 then a low c/r?

What do you reckon?

Whatever compression ratio you choose should be high enough that you need water injection b'cos that will add to the total coolness (no pun intended) of the project :D

8) those pics are of an engine built by a guy called Uve Taube, he is a member of Capri Club Deutschland.. and yes that engine ran - beautifully.
Got a run in it at Rosenheim in 2005, it went like the proverbial scorched cat!!
It was a 35V8 bored to 36 and Uve built the whole thing in his garage at the side of the house.
HOWEVER, he got a bit bored last year and it was running too well !! So he stripped it all back out and sold the lot (on fleabay of all places)
rumour is that a Rover restorer in Northern Germany is in the process of fitting it into a P5B !!
I have a ton of fotos I got from Uve during the build..it had a megasquirt system and a home built/ modified ecu.
he also milled a lot of the pulleys and brackets himself..
 Shame really he's gone back down to cossie V6 29 now, says its more comfortable ! :!: !
