Interesting. Can you tell me where to find a full schematic so I can compare it to MS?

The spark graph by cobratone was actually from megatune software.
Your using tuner studio. That explains the different appearances of each spark table.

r2d2hp wrote:You do the same with the Emerald it just that you ask the person that designed and wrote the software and get an answer back in hours. Too many so called experts on MS.
If you post with a query on the MSextra boards you will get replies from the mods- they are the guys involved with putting the code together, as well as people who produce many of the other addon boards you can get. Doesnt get much more 1st hand than that...

Quite. The support for MS is second to none. And all the info is out there and free - so much it can take some sorting through.

Hi Dave
for me I think you have hit the nail on the head, I find myself swamped with the shear quantity of information, I also find it difficult to find the settings and right menu as the set up seems to be spread over several menus with ignition stuff spread between 2 ignition set up menus, the trigger wheel menu and something referrd to as "generalset up".
Interesting times!
Betst regards
Mike

With an all purpose replacement ECU, there will always be lots of choices. :D If you limit the choices, you limit the number of ways it can be used.

The main snag with MS, when DIYing totally, is the basic information tends to be rather out of date - you have to find and read the updates. But this is not unusual with any software. Programmers prefer writing software than text.

Of course the way round it is to buy from the likes of ExtraEFI, and specify your needs. And then don't change things. :D

Like
Make it work as simply and with as little wiring and as few parts as a carburettor

Hi Dave

" course the way round it is to buy from the likes of ExtraEFI,"

It is exactly what I have done and I think it is the best way to persue what I want, but at the moment it is all a lot to take in, I think I went in with my eyes open here and am very happy with the support Phil has given so far but alot of this is down to me (and my suffering helpers) to sort out. Phil cannot be expected to debug choices/ design selections I have made and he has done his best to support, it would be totally unreasonable of me to expect this, however it is one big head ache and as I said earlier I am having information overload on the EFI extra side, coupled with a scarsity of information on the other hardware it is very frustrating :nutz .
This set up will mean I never have to have an offest cam gear in my engine bliss! and can log "stuff" to my hearts content and do some secondary control on the MFI.

Ian

As you are aware I hate carbs so I have mechanical fuel injection, 3 springs a bunch of shims in 3 poppet valves and 2 jets (1 in a selectable jet holder) and a turn buckle on the barrel valve and that is your tuning sorted though I believe it takes a bit of sorting out in a road car and part throttle pickup can be difficult to get right
Best regards
Mike

I also purchased from Phil Extra EFI i did not feel the need to assemble one from scratch just to prove i could, the cost difference from someone who is building them constantly i.e Phil was a no brainer for me :) wired up and fired up went my install no teething problems whatsoever and Phil gave me the options I requested as in switch-able maps, purge valve control & shift light output :P I did have a 2 minute delay starting up the car for the 1st time though when on my final checks I had forgot to refit the fuse for the injector + supply  my bad 8)

Reason I built my own - and the wiring harness etc - was I'd seen so many have problems. Building something helps understand how it works. But I do realise it's not everyone's thang. :D The worst possible reason to build it yourself is just to save money. You have to have an interest in doing so.

Nothing wrong with that Dave :D I did however build my own stim 8-) never needed it mind other than flashing firmware as I find it more stable to do this on my work server with serial port's rather than take a chance with the USB - serial converter  cant be doing with data corruption and all that

Coops and SS, you are both running MS2 not MS1 that's why the TS is different.

I've tried loading in all the default project files I have to TS - and still can't find that page. :D

If you get data corruption over your USB to serial link, I don't fancy your chances of doing any tuning. :D And I'm fairly certain MS verifies the base code after loading.

But I have a desktop in the workshop with a serial port so generally use that to load in new base code.
