Thank you very much Sidecar. Just as a matter of interest would I have the 4 outer holes in a P6 block if they are a later addition that has now been discontinued?

you will have the holes, but i don't think they are nessicarry even if you have a 14 bolt head, only use 10 of them

So have the blocks always had 14 holes but only 10 were used to start with and then 14 and now back to 10?

Fil,

3.5.3.9 & 4.2 all had 14 bolts for the heads but the recommendation was that if the outer row of bolts were fitted that they should not be fully torqued but just pinch tightened,

The later 4.0 & 4.6 engines only have 10 bolts for the heads.

Is that because the 14 head bolts worked with the Buick engine and heads? Just wondering really!!
