A standard rover diff should also be able to cope witht he power for a 4.2 easily, even in the heavy SD1, using the right oil etc.

Standard diff and standard gearbox from the looks of things. That watts linkage doesn't look right either, the pivot is supposed to be vertical isn't it? The rods are at quite a steep angle.

The question has to be asked, -------What the fec were you doing to cause so much damage, Rover diffs are a strong unit, and I have never seen a flange shear off like that, :D :D :D
I was turning left from a stand still at a junction then bang no drive at all, honest officer.

Hi All

I need some more advice...... :?

I have agreed that I am going to get the quaife £495 diff from the gear box man.

But the problem is that the standard sd1 gear box can be rebuilt for around £450 But this would be standard sd1 rebuild.

I have been told that the T5 Sierra Cosworth gear box with the rover v8 to Cosworth gear box bell housing will go straight onto the engine and the gear stick will come up in the right place. Is this true?

The TVR V8 gearbox with the TVR V8 bell housing will work with my engine but…. Where the gear stick comes up is not in the right place… Is this true?

If anyone does know this, please can I have some advice as I’m not sure whether I should get the SD1 gearbox rebuilt or go for the TVR or Sierra Cosworth.

If you have any experience or knowledge on this, your advice would be greatly appreciated. :D

Cosworth T5 would probably work, IIRC TVR T5s have the lever far forward of an ideal position, Real steel sell a bellhousing if you dont want to look for a TVR one, T5s come in a multitude of types, last count about 250 variants
