They look great Perry, good job. I've been thinking about wheels for my MGB for many years now, it has 5x 127 PCD (Rover SD1) which is a PITA to source anything decent from! I did have a set of uber rare 16" Compomotive MOs from a proper Group A racer but sold them mid recession to cover the new boiler  also had my heart set on some Rota RB-X rims but they come too wide and I'd have to get adapters from the states or custom made .... anyway long story short, having seen this thread I had a look around, look what I found, perfect for me I think!

Should look good with the BCV8 Sebring arches I've just got

Hi
There are two forms of unilug wheel, the first is double drilled (10 holes per wheel) and one is chevy bolt pattern (5 x 120mm. . 5X 4.75") the other is ford ( 5X 114.3, 5x4.5") the wheel is centered using sleeved nuts that go into the wheel, my rears on the dragster are this type. The other version have just 5 holes but they are oval and use a special sleeve with a hole at one end that is put in one way round to match the 5x 4.75" and reversed to do the 5x4.5", I am pretty sure this later set up was extended with a bigger hole and a second oval sleeve/ spacer to do 5x5 which is a chevy "full size saloon" wheel size and also covers cadilac.
Best regards
Mike

Ah, a sort of multi fitment type thing I see. To be honest, I really like those steelies I found, they are 17" which is pretty unusual but I think they would suit a '66 MG quite well.

Anything over 15" on classics looks just pain awful and what you save on these wheels will be lost on the tyres and they will weigh a half pinto.

This sellers revo's would do the job nicely - may be a bit pricey but if they dont sell make an offer or at least you know that decent wheels that would suit the car are out there.

You cant easily unilug or re-drill steels, firstly unilugging uses elongated bolt holes and sleeve nuts, you cant use sleve nuts on steels safely and elongating holes in steels destroys the built up and taper seat where the steels rely on that for strength and locking the nuts, possibly centralising the wheel too, the raised taper seats are the reason you cant redrill steels as well.

I respectively disagree. I already have 15" x 7" compomotives on my old MGB Sebring and they are not big enough to fill the arches. The new Sebring arches I have are slightly larger, and the racers used 16" x 10" wheels in them. I've already done the calculations, and the wheels/tyres I am running now can be replaced with 17" wheels and 235/50 profile tyres and have an almost identical rolling radius.

I previously had a set of those revolutions in that size and I sold them because I didn't think they suited the MGB, more 70s than 60s. And he's askign £160 per pair, so that's £320 which is already more than a set of new 17" steelies, plus repainting/powdercoat on top. Plus given the brakes I am running now, and/or planning to run in the future I need larger rims.

I do agree that you should be careful what rims to put on a classic though, I generally don't like seeing modern style wheels on older cars. However saying that, if I could get some in the right size I would buy some Rota RB-X as they look similar to minilites but bigger!

I love minilites and they do look great on your motor! But they would look daft in the arches I've got planned, when I collect them from my dad's I'll post a pic

I've already been asked about having some 60's MGB steelies widened for a mate of mine. 8" old style steelies with chrome hub caps? Yes please :)
