I still use my original 1975 Salisbury axle on my MGB GT. In fact, I am using a pair of second hand half shafts from a 1980 1800cc GT in this axle.
I broke my diff locker, so I just welded the cogs together to get me out of trouble last year. She is a bitch when it comes to a tight turn, but I can put up with that.
I now run a 4.6 Rover in the MGB and it has all standard front and rear suspension. She also runs a 200hp shot of nitrous oxide.
I have big fat Mickey T slicks on the rear wheels as well.
This is not a trick or photo shopped picture.
This is what my MGB does when I hit the pedal. She runs 0-60mph in just under 3 seconds and does a standing 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds.
Do not be fooled into thinking that the Salisbury axle is not a strong item mate. It was over engineered from day one. And in a light MGB it will take a shed load of stick.
