not sure which edelbrocks you are referring to and not sure if that is with valves or not but....
My 235cc inlet port RHS chevy ally heads were about $720 for the pair, with valve guides and seats cut. In iron same heads about $550. (about 310 cu ft/min)
A set of replica vortec heads in ally with the valve spring seats opened to 1.5" and guides and caps designed to give you .6" of lift with valves springs and pushrod guides all installed about $590 the pair. (about 220 cuft/min)
brodix 18 degree castings, new about $1400-1800 a pair
SB2 castings fully loaded with titanium vales the works A1 condition but second hand about $1800 to $2200 (these are 400 to 430 cuft/min heads and are very nice!

)
Chevy heads are good value

Bear in mind the SB2 heads actually change the layout of the inlet and exhaust valves. This means custom cam, inlet, exhaust. In fact a good SB2 motor can be had for around $20k and this is a better way to go than bringing over a pair of heads. You'd end up spending that anyway in the end. Need a lot of work to use with a stock block too. Not really a cheap option! It is nascar eqpt.

Hi I didn't really expect anyone to take the SB2 sugestion seriously just gave it as an example of costing

, these are 850bhp+ heads fully loaded for less than the price of a pair of wildcat castings for a rover. I was not sugesting a guy build an SB2 engine as a first chevy

I looked into it and yes there are alot of special bits to buy to build one, I was considering it as the inlet port spacing is much better for individual throttle bodies (actually the same spacing as the 302 ford engine). And over here we have to import or custom fabricate everything so it is not such a big deal as in the usa where every aftermarket part is $35 postage away!
When I got my new heads delivered to my door with everything paid the pair were less than a single 8 port A series head in the same state of build.

Sorry, one thing, £11 k ($20K) for 850 bhp and 650 ftlb torque

that will run for 500 mile race propelling about a ton and a half of welded up scafolding that is a nascar race car and say its not cheep, I beg to differ, you build a rover lump that will produce half that output (normally aspirated) for the same duration and the same money

what is the spec of the engine you are building? what heads/size ports? cam spec? cu inches..... Edlebrocks are nice heads... but they do a wide range

are you doing a full rebuild? might be able to help if you need standard bits.

Hi Mike, its going to be stroked to a 347 , the heads are edelbrock rpm performance ones, going in it at the moment is just a standard engine with edelbrock rpm performance carb and intake, but thanks for the offer, all the best

I spent the new year in florida and whilst over there i bought a pair of Dart pro1 heads, ARP Head studs and a set of pistons for a BBC. when they arrived in the uk i got collered for import duty and vat but it still worked out cheaper than getting them from over here, In total it cost me £2400 for the lot but i'm sure they didn't actually charge me postage

but i did have to pay florida tax which is 8%. In the uk it'd if cost me about £3200 plus vat so i think it's worth it.

Also while i think about it the place where i got the heads from were $100 cheaper each than summit or jegs. I have thier phone number and e-mail address if anyone's interested

It cost me £370, the bit's i bought over there cost me just over £1900 which i think was quite cheep as the heads are about £1300 each + vat and the pistons are £550 + vat over here

I have just bought a bottom end kit off Ebay for my new engine, cost $1450 plus postage, I'll get the paper work when it arrives and post the charges and costs.

import duty and Vat £259
still for what I got a total of about £1230 is not bad forged 383 crank, forged H-beam rods and Marhl forged flat top pistons, all ballanced and a full set of bearings.

that is what I have been working on all along, depends on the weight (hence postage) but works pretty well.
