I think your Westminster axle may be similar to the MGB V8 Salisbury axle if not the same one. The MGB V8 and MGC axles came with ratios of 3.07:1 If you have 3.9:1 ratio this is the same as the stock MGB 1800 late diffs.

I'm still running my MGB V8 3.07:1 Salisbury axle in my car. Its a pretty tough unit.
