Rolling road a landrover
Quick question.
I want to set up my landrover 90 v8 on a rolling road.
4wd rolling roads are a bit rare, but there is a 2wd rolling road conveniently around the corner from my house.
Would it be a sensible idea to take off the front prop, engage the centre diff lock, and use the rolling road in 2wd format ( being careful to take it easy in the lower gears?)
The engine is a 4.6 RV8, not going mad on the tune -say 220 to 250bhp.
Transmission is standard ZF 4hp24, with an LT230 transfer box.
Anyone don't this?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Depends where you live Mike.
My Dyno guy has a 4x4 rolling road. He is in Milton Keynes.

I guess we should think about another Forum day at the dyno for later in the summer then

My thoughts exactly Chris !!
Even if we bring the daily drivers to chuck on the rollers its still a good meet up eh? We only need 10 as a minimum and I could ask on other forums for MG mates to turn up as well.
I'll have to make up some sort of extractor hood system for me and Mike as Martin is concerned about our zoomies flooding the shop with fumes.. I can make the extractors and stands for next to nothing. But the high temp exhaust hose is mega expensive. Hold on???? I can make the pipe from hoods to Martins sucker things in 150mm spiral wound steel duct for cheap as well ??? It may look a bit Heath Robinson but it would work
And I would need to find some cheap road tyres to put on the spare rear rims as well. But thats only £100 I guess ??
I think we should start thinking about a list and some dates for maybe end August or early September??

I would come along mate for a laugh! Also have been thinking - Would anybody be up for booking a club space for the V8 Forum at the retro show at santa pod? I know some of you guys may already be exhibiting with other clubs, but if there are 10 people I am happy to book it and get everything sorted. If you think it's a good idea I will make a thread for everybody to put their names on etc- I like this kind of organising stuff:-)
Spent so much on trial and error!

I've got a 2WD rolling road within 2 miles of my house, so would prefer to take a propshaft off and run 2wd in difflock
Would this be safe?
Your dyno guy should do what you want with regards to gentle power build on the rollers.
