Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help.
I've got a 4.4 bmw with a manual box. The engine is in the car but I've gotta get it out asap. I'm keeping the engine but the car has gotta go.
I'll be fitting the engine in an old classic
my question is, what wires are needed to make it all work and which wires don't I need.
I did a swap with a 2.9i sierra engine years ago an it was easy, the only thing I had to do was send power to the ecu, injector relay and pump relay.
The bmw looks hideously complicated and I don't want to cut something or scrap something that's critical.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

LOL
It WILL be complicated ! It wont be so much a case of what wires are needed....more what arent.
Really to be safe you will want to remove most of the entire loom, including ecu, dash/clocks, etc.
Of course this does presume you intend using the BMW ecu again ?
What age is the car ?, does it have an immobiliser built in ? You may also need to get the ignition barrel and any transponder attached to it as well as keeping the keys to keep that immobiliser working.
In order to save yourself hassle later on, you really do need to make sure you keep as many parts as you can.

Given your adding boost, it would be easier to use an aftermarket ecu. Also means no worries about the BMW wiring.
But choose an ecu your installer and mapper is comfortable using, and that you're sure will do everything you need.
