Innovate exhaust clamp - any good?

I will be fitting MS Efi to my Rover P6 at some point in the future, however I am quite keen to see what mixtures I am running currently on the carbs before then.

I have an LC1 that I can use for this but dont really want to go to the trouble of removing the exhaust and welding in a bung.

So my question is this - is the innovate exhaust clamp any good? Has anyone used one? See here:

Dunno why you would bother when it's like 5 mins of work to weld in a bung? Any decent garage should be able to fit one pretty quick.
RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

Well if its anything like separating the exhaust on my 90 at the slip joints it'll be a total b@stard of a job but without the comfort of all the room underneath. And its a nice stainless system, so I'd need to get a stainless bung and some wire... nobody but me gets to tinker with my babies... :roll: once I'm tuned I won't need the lambda fitted anyway, unless I'm troubleshooting.

If you bring it over I can Tig a bung in the system without removing the exhaust system, just need to find a bit of header/down pipe you can get at! You will need to disconnect the power and jack it up enough so I can get underneath (if you want it at a collector) but I have stainless filler and a suitable electrode. . . . if you want to do it yourself I can lend you the kit, a space on the drive and supply tea. . . we would need to rig up some sort of wind brake but that would not be dificult. Oh and I will need to get a bottle of gas Saturday morning if you want to do it this weekend :D .

I'd not be without my wideband lambda on my SD1 even some years after fitting MS. :D

I had my bung fitted by a local SS exhaust specialist. Cost me £20 - I supplied the bung. They did remove part of the system to do this - but it's easy enough if you're used to it and have all the correct tools. And if you do decide afterwards you don't need the sensor, you can simply use a plug to seal it.

or make your own exhaust clamp. I used a bit of 25mm tubing, welded a bung onto it and then cut up an old mini g-clamp and welded that on as well.

Not as good as a proper welded bung, but handy for some quick diagnostics. I would ignore any readings from it at idle though.

Mike - Wow, you are a legend! Too kind! I am off to Aberdeen this weekend unfortunately as I have to do my offshore survival training... :shock:

I have a weekend free at some point later in the month (will have to check with the wife :oops:) , can we sort something out for the appropriate number of beer tokens? I will take some piccies of the engine bay/ underside so we can figure something out in advance.

Dave - you are probably right about removing it, I have never taken the LC1 out of the landrover and I havent tweaked the MS on that for a good while...

Eliot - Nice work! I may see if I can do something similar for random one off tuning sessions.

I am on holiday xxth and yyth, but I am here for the weekend aath, bbth and pretty well all of the weekends in November, just let me know when you are free. Don't worry about beer tokens it will only take 15 minutes once the battery is disconnected and it is jacked up I have ramps and jacks.

That looks far more efficient in its design than the Innovate job quite frankly 8-) personally I prefer the bung method I have 2 because I was using closed loop idle control in Tunerstudio with a NB sensor fitted permanently to improve the idle stepper consistency 8) don't bother now though 8-)

Oh, joy! That has always been one of my least favourite courses. I'd far sooner do a 3 day Marine firefighting course than a day in the pool.
