The DLM dizzy uses a VR, not hall effect sensor. And yes, it produces a fairly normal voltage for these sort of things - I've used one with a MegaSquirt no problems.

35dlm8 vs STC1856 remote module

Post by hirot »

Hi, does anyone know if you can replace the 35dlm8 distributor amplifier module with the remote stc 1856 module.

I have tried but have failed to get a splutter. I have taken the amplifier from the STC1856 and attached it directly to the distributor and it works fine. The cables on the stc1856 seem to be ok so I just wondered if the 35dlm8 Hall effect bits were capable of driving a strong enough signal to the remote unit.

Ian ,
You need to earth the casing on the amp to get it to work when using it remotely.

Jim, as usual you are hopefully saving my day. I had just read up on VR sensors and was about to attempt to test it. Probably would not have had much success though.

I had checked the earth on the module and it seemed OK but I will add an earth wire and see what happens.

The car is still running well since I re jetted it....thankyou for the jets....and I am now attempting to get it to start first ish time when hot as opposed to turning over about 10 times. I am guessing its fuel vaporisation and that the carb is either to lean cos the petrol has gone or too rich as its breathing vapour rich fuel from the evaporated stuff.

Regards Ian
