Hi all. I am rebuilding a P6 V8 and have one part the came off of the front of the crank between the block and the timing cover. It is a disc that has a hole in the middle and a cut out for the key. It looks like an oil thrower to me. It does not seem to appear on my exploded diagram either. I cannot remember where it goes. Any ideas ??
It goes on the crank in front of the lower timing chain cog with the dish shape facing forwards.. You then put on the timing cover and then the front v belt pulley. When you tighten the bolt on the end of the crankshaft the oil thrower will be held tight between the cog and the boss of the front pulley.
If you are fitting a later timing cover then you may have to omit the oil thrower as there is an eyebrow inside the later covers which will snag on the thrower disc.
