SU carb conversion ?

Hi guys

Would replacing the rover 1.75" su carbs for jaguar 2" su carbs give the engine better mpg.

no probably not, unless the engine is very highly tuned, however if correctly set up they should be no worse, all this depends on condition of both carbs.

I did that mod, to get more top end power from a 4.6.

The carbs are a bit of a pig:
1. They are both the same 'hand', so you have to bugger about with the linkages a fair bit!
2. There is no choke mechanism
3. The float bowls hit the rocker covers, so you have to tilt the carbs a bit, then tilt the float bowls back to level.
4. You need to port the manifold.
5. You need to modify the inlets.
