If anyone else has any ideas let me know

I'm not looking for tuned monster just want to get it running right and standard ! And a bit better on juice too maybe

I think you may have a blockage in your fuel line
Your "it dies when you hit a hill" give me this thought
Normal running the pump and fuel line can just about cope but give it wellie or need more juice to climb and it cannot pump enough fuel.
Facit ret top pump has an inbuilt inlet filter - this could be crudded up
Or your fuel tank could be pealing paint and a "flake" blocks off the tank outlet / fuel pipe pickup.
Also if one of the carps has leaked fuel - again points towards crud that has got into and held a needle and seat open
also check any in line fuel filters you have and make sure they are clean
