what do you mean when you use the term throttle POT???

Yes - the TPS is a potentiometer. They wear out eventually.

They can be checked quite easily - with a DVM. Look for a smooth increase in output volts as the throttle is opened very slowly. Wear on the track will cause an erratic reading - usually towards the idle position, as that gets the most use. It also needs checking/setting to the correct voltage output at idle.
