yeah as he will be to far in front of me :lol: :lol: :lol:

been and collected the axle from caprisport tonight ready for delivery to ARRC in the morning,

and i can say at last i have managed to fit a ford 8.8 into the rear of a nissan primera, well into the boot really but sounded good :lol: :lol:

while over Capsport tonight i had a quick look at the new rear suspenssion setup and axle location drawings caprisport are working on for the car for racing next year, it aint gona move this time round :wink: :wink:

axle dims:
was 59.5" wide will be 56.6875" wide when narrowed (1440mm)

Crikey- how quick you gonna be going? Vented AND drilled discs on the rear :shock: :lol:

Have you de-burred/champhered the holes to get smooth edges?

if you look back over the build tom you will see i was already running these discs last year :lol:
but new axle decided new discs too,

managed to get over caprisport this weekend, (weather allowed me to drive out of the village)

Looking good, are you staying with leaf springs?

If so a good idea to have the axle floating so you get full suspension compliance. it's a simple mod and just needs spacers to stop the u bolt clamps from actually fully clamping the springs so that the axle cam move fore and aft as required, leaving the four links to control the axle and a panhard bar for lateral control if required.

no 4 link mate,
as due to the axle costs etc i cant afford it this year,
but with the new set up on the leaf springs theres no U bolts to worry about, :wink:
Oh and Andy recons it should be a good reliable setup.
more info etc once we start making it.

Be interested to see what you have in mind.

Alternatively, Pop Brown does a very economic 4 link kit with all the attachments.

Wasn't clear are you keeping the leafs?

yup keeping the leafs for next year,
then end of next year before cars stripped out for respray we will do the 4 link work etc and it can all get sealed and painted at the same time as the underneath gets painted,

well now the crimbo break is out the way,
and after talking to Pel, i think this will be the last year the capri is on the road,
to be competative in 2012 with Pel and Ian i think i need to sit back and decide what i need from the car.
or go for another form of vehicle,

I can put you in touch with a nice chap who makes slingshot and altered chassis if you want, very reasonable prices, now a rover powered altered on a centrifugal blower, methanol and a sniff of gas all you need is a box to go with it! :lol: :twisted: :twisted: :lol: :chase

well been busy again this weekend,
replaced the o/e lower track arms with some race rose jointed adjustable ones,

Then finished off the electronic line loc install,

then trial fitted the wheels we use for racing that has the drag radials on.

Then was time to test, the line loc, the new LSD unit and axle, and the tyres.

Yup looks like every thing works fine, and a LSD that locks both wheels while doing a burn out :lol:

Well things maybe changing yet again with the car :lol:

im looking at removing the power steering from the car and going manual rack,
which free's up a lot of room on the n/s front of the engine, and guess what sits in there a treat :wink:

If we space the o/e pulleys out around 10-15mm we can run a single belt,

And we have plenty of height clearance too,
