R380 gearbox
Could any of you guy,s tell me if the R380 gearbox in a discovery/defender 300tdi fit in place on a discoveryV8 R380 & if so will it survive whilst i rebuild the original? Not knowing mucho about gearboxes i have to ask the experienced amongst you?
IIRC the Tdi input shaft is shorter to suit the Tdi bellhousing, so you would need to swap the bellhousing and input shaft for the V8 ones. If you just swap the bellhousing, the Tdi input shaft will just engage with the clutch centre plate splines, the splines won't last long if you attempt to drive it like this.
