fuel pump not running
OK I am having some issues, my truck is broken due to a buggered gearbox so cant drive it anywhere unless i use 4th gear!! This is not the problem however, the battery died due to lack of use, this has been replaced and whilst I was under the bonnet I removed the rocker covers and gave them a buff up since they had corroded slightly. I carried out all these things with the battery not in the vehicle. New battery fitted but cant get it to start, usually you get a couple of seconds of the fuel pump running to prime the system but not now. I did find the 2 wires disconnected from the coil to the ignition amplifier and re-fitted these but still nothing. It did run using an old battery from another vehicle before I took off the rocker covers. Any ideas where to start? I cannot see anything obvious. It is pissing down outside and am cold and wet and very fed up. Please help if you can.

Are they the 2 metal relays? I did check those visually and unplugged them and plugged them back in again but no luck. I do have some spare relays I think somewhere so will try fitting those. I assumed I had disturbed something when the rocker covers were removed but cant see anything obvious. The starter motor turns well and the oil light goes out but without the fuel it wont start. What tells the pump to run, the ecu?

When you turn on ignition you should hear the relays click
The fuel pump should then run for 3 seconds to pressurise the system
It will then turn off untill the engine is turned over when it will turn the fuel pump on again
There may also be a fuse between the relay and the pump which could have blown
Also there is a black and white wire from distributor to air flow meter
This needs to be in place for it to run
(All above for hotwire)

I couldn't hear the relay clicking earlier, the black and white wire in the air flow meter loom is attached still and it goes to the coil. I will try to find the spare relay when it stops raining and swap it over. It is hotwire by the way.
Thanks for the replys. I will let you know what I find.

UPDATE
it lives, thank you for your help it was the fuel pump relay in the end just think it was a coincidence it happened at the same time as I was tinkering. It is annoying though as this has been replaced before and looked like new still. It is situated under the bonnet in a plastic box to protect it from the elements too. Still a easy fix in the end and I even had the part
