Not on the new firmware yet.

My ECU however is running 1.1.59 (includes nitrous retard + other interesting stuff) The fuelling and trigger works, but the ign channels look "odd". I don't understand it yet.

I'll bring the testbox with me. It's a simple enough circuitboard.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

we have life baby,
had few teething probs, trigger wires round wrong way etc as soon as that was sorted she burst into life rich as hell on about 6 cylinders, wernt till after a few other attempts that Dave found the map sensor pipe had come off the ecu,
once this was put back on she fired on all eight and sounds frikin awsome,
revs up real crisp,

ONLY prob we have so far is that when you turn the ignition off the car keeps running :?
disconect the ignition light wire from the alternator and it stops and starts on the key fine,
ideas anyone?
alternator goosed?

BUT im like a dog with two dicks at the mo

Thanks for the help Dave was good meeting you both tonight,
hope you caught the ferry back ok.

I had the same issue on my Firenza and found I had to put a diode in the wire from the ign light to the alternator.

Car not with me at the moment so I can not be any more specific until it returns in a fews time

Tony,

You will need a Diode, a 1N5402

(these can be obtained from weither RS Components or Maplin electronics etc - About 15p !)

Here is the item :

This is to be placed in the alternator sensor wire this is basically to replace the wire, ...................not to be soldered in line with it.

The diode needs to be fitted with the grey band towards the alternator

Just got back and got my mountain of wheels unloaded!

I had a thought about the alternator on the way home... I think you have connected the warning lamp wire to the same point on the wiring harness as the +12v signal that feeds the main relay.

This would latch the main relay without suitable diode. How about moving the alternator lamp wire to the switched side of the relay instead of the coil side? All it needs is a +12v signal to energise the coil...

Putting a diode inline is all very well, but it might stop the warning lamp from telling you about the alternator regulator failing and pushing the voltage too high.

Tony,

Congratulations, I only know to well that feeling of turning the key with fingers and anything else crossed and waiting for that magic moment when it fires up on all cylinders and you have oil pressure on the gauge.

So is this the last chapter of this book, you seem to be planning a new one already

Regards,

Kevin.

the book is never closed mate

regarding the diode on the alternator was chatting to a few at work today and they think it will be ok, and will still light up if the alternator fails,
any one else want to comment?

will get a vid up the weekend after the cam has been bedded in as can let her idle then etc while i take a vid for you,
