shortening gear selector,

is it easy to do on my lt77 box,

i have been told you can get like a remote gear lever so it won't be as far back but i have no clue what it is,

any1 know?

We just moved the gearstick forward to get it in the middle of the tunnel hole on my mates MGB by cutting it off and refitting as per photo.

i had one of those, i used it on the conversion for my old manta, i will have alook and see if i still got it, it moves the selector about 5" forward :) rich

5" is a lot....

But Its should still work as long as you have enough room for the stick to move about eh?

5" is from memory, which isnt that im finding out lately, it moved the whole lever forward, it was a shorter casing, i think i might still have it, if i have i will put a pic up, magnan engineering did them if they are still going im going back about 20 years. :shock: rich

The MGOC supplied me with a shortened remote assembly. You can see the weld just in front of the string. A support just behind the string was also repositioned.

They cut it too short so I had to do a similar mod to Perry's but mine was not so neat. (The lever is in back to front in the pic, honest :oops: )

If you need to move the stick 5 inches further forward, surely you'd be better off with the Sherpa remote rather than the SD1 remote?

i was the one that mentioned 5" , but i cant remember if mine was 5" shorter or the casing was 5" , it was 20 years ago, and it might not be anything like 5". i dont know what length slinger needs, :) rich
