fed mogul rockers

Post by Seight-V8 »

hiya all,

so now i've got hold of some fed mogul steel replacement rockers, as my last steel rockers were of questional quality.

These rockers look much better, but the v8 tuning book says to weld up the hole that feeds the valve stem.

is it safe to do this or just leave it, as the engine aint gonna be raced or over revved.

cheers

scott

I seem to remember that some of these steel rockers have two holes in the opening. I think you weld up the hole that does not line up with the hole in the shaft.

hiya,

yes there's one that leads to the pushrod head, then one that point to the valve stem, and its quite large.

Just wondering if i really need to weld it up or not.

cheers

I don't think you have to weld it up, I think the idea is that as you don't need a direct oil feed for roller rockers you can use that oil for the rest of the engine. It also means there is less oil dropping down onto your crank so it gains you a horspower or two if you restrict the oil to the top of the engine.
The set up on my chevy is an all roller valve train, but I intend not to restrict the flow to the valve gear as I want the extra cooling of the oil, I will be scavenging the valley though as I have a dry sump set up.
