Megasquirt - Wheel decoder settings

Post by 14500rpm »

Hello all,

I've got to the stage with my car where I am getting ready to have a go at starting it for the first time but I've a concern over the trigger wheel settings. My sensor is pointing at tooth 10 (after the missing one) on my 36-1 wheel, so when I put this into the wheel decoder calculating spreadsheet I get this:

The trigger return position for D is 36 - is this value OK? I have read this part of the manual several times but haven't been able to get my head around it so far, so any advice from those who know what they are doing would be appreciated :D

Urr dont know without sitting down and reading it myself.

Have you read phil's page:
http://www.extraefi.co.uk/wheel_fitting.htm#ms2

What engine and what variant of MS code?

Are you saying that you cant return on tooth 36, because its missing? - i believe that's right. Therefore you need to move the wheel or the pickup so you miss the gap. If you change the aligment from 10 to 9, it lands on tooth 35 instead.

Not totally sure without reading more and the little'un has just woken uo..
I used edis, nice and simple!

Thanks Eliot, thats pretty much what I was guessing. I took the wheel off and moved it round earlier so all should be good now, managed to do it without disturbing the radiator too :D

Rover V8 with one of Phil Ringwoods MS1-Extra's by the way.
